Stablecoin payment volume reached $482 billion from January through September 2026, up 45% year over year, while stablecoin supply grew by 0.4%, according to Allium.¹ Mastercard and JPMorgan also announced new stablecoin and deposit-token developments in October.² ⁴ Here is what those developments may mean for crypto ATM operators.
What Allium’s data shows
Allium reported $482 billion in stablecoin payment volume through September 2026, a 45% year-over-year increase. The report also said payment count rose by 71% to more than one billion, while the average payment size fell from $544 to $462. Stablecoin supply rose 0.4% to about $305 billion by the end of September. Allium reported $3.9 billion in stablecoin-linked card spending in Q3, roughly ten times the level a year earlier.¹ These are figures reported by Allium; they describe the activity included in its methodology and should not be read as a measure of all stablecoin transfers or all consumer payments.

What payment networks and banks announced
Mastercard and BVNK
On 15 October 2026, Mastercard and BVNK announced the launch of the Global Money Platform. Mastercard says the platform enables businesses and fintechs to offer multi-currency accounts that can include fiat currencies and stablecoins, stablecoin-linked cards, and payouts to local bank accounts through Mastercard Move.² Mastercard completed its acquisition of BVNK on 3 August 2026.³
JPMorgan
On 19 October 2026, JPMorgan announced that its USD-denominated deposit token, JPM Coin (ticker JPMD), is available to institutional clients on Ethereum as well as Base.⁴ The Block reports that the token launched on Base in November 2025.⁵ JPM Coin is a bank deposit token; it should not be described as a stablecoin issued by an independent stablecoin provider.
Visa
Visa has reported more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programs and nearly 200% year-over-year growth in payment volume across those programs. The figures are for Visa’s fiscal second quarter of 2026, the three months ending March 2026. They describe activity on Visa-linked programs, not overall stablecoin payment volume.⁶
Customers who use cash
The World Bank’s Global Findex 2025 says that nearly 80% of adults worldwide have a financial account, while 1.3 billion adults still lack access to financial services.⁷ A crypto ATM can provide a way to exchange cash for supported digital assets, subject to the machine’s capabilities and local law. That does not by itself establish that an ATM is suitable or available for every customer or stablecoin.
What operators can check
Supported tokens and networks
Check the supported-cryptocurrency documentation and the configuration of your own BATM Software installation before advertising or enabling a token. Availability can depend on the software version, setup and network. Compare network fees and transfer requirements for the amounts your customers typically use.⁸
Local rules
In the EU, MiCA defines an e-money token as a crypto-asset that purports to maintain a stable value by referencing the value of one official currency. Article 48 sets conditions for offering an e-money token to the public or seeking its admission to trading in the EU, including issuer authorisation as a credit institution or electronic money institution and publication of a crypto-asset white paper.⁹ ¹⁰ The regulation includes exceptions, and whether a particular activity falls within these rules depends on the facts and applicable law. Operators should obtain jurisdiction-specific legal advice before offering or promoting a token.
Customer checks
Applicable anti-money-laundering, sanctions and transfer-information requirements depend on the operator, transaction and jurisdiction. Before adding a stablecoin, confirm which checks and limits apply to your business and verify that the relevant providers and functions are available in your software version and configuration.
