GENERAL BYTES achieves DORA compliance and expands support for EU crypto regulations

As the regulatory environment for crypto continues to evolve in the European Union, we have great news to share with our customers and partners:

GENERAL BYTES is now fully compliant with the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA)

At the same time, we’ve strengthened our platform’s capabilities to help BATM operators meet the requirements of MiCA and the Travel Rule, with practical tools already available—and more on the way.

DORA Compliance Achieved

DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act), effective from January 17, 2025, is designed to ensure that companies providing critical ICT services to the financial sector—such as crypto infrastructure providers—are secure, stable, and resilient against cyber threats and system failures.

As a vendor serving crypto operators across the EU and beyond, GENERAL BYTES has now completed its internal DORA compliance framework.

This includes:

  • Audited infrastructure and development processes
  • Resilience testing and disaster recovery mechanisms
  • Clear incident response procedures
  • Oversight of third-party service providers

What this means for BATM operators: By choosing GENERAL BYTES, you are working with a partner whose infrastructure meets the highest EU-level requirements for operational resilience—giving you confidence that your machines are built on a solid, secure foundation.

Supporting You with MiCA and Travel Rule Compliance

The upcoming MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) regulation and EU Travel Rule (Regulation 2023/1113) will begin to apply from January 2025, and will directly impact BATM operators in the EU.

We are committed to helping you stay compliant, without the need for complex development or integrations. Here’s how we’re doing it:

✅ MiCA-Ready Tools

Our platform supports features to help you align with MiCA’s licensing and operational expectations:

  • KYC verification and threshold-based identity checks
  • Wallet ownership declarations
  • Recordkeeping and transaction traceability

✅ Travel Rule Compliance Built-In

The Crypto Application Server (CAS) now includes full support for the Travel Rule:

  • Automatic PII data collection for transactions ≥ €1,000
  • Wallet type declarations
  • Travel Rule “Envelope” creation and secure transmission
  • Record retention tools
  • Integration with Notabene (live), and GTR/SumSub coming soon

As of now, we are the only BATM software provider offering these integrations out of the box, without requiring you to build custom connections. Learn more on our new EU Regulation Overview page.

What’s Next?

In the coming months, we’ll continue expanding our compliance support tools to help you meet national-level implementations of EU law in your country. We monitor the legislative updates, adjust our software accordingly, and offer guidance through our online documentation and support team.

Our goal is simple: to give you peace of mind while running your BATMs—no matter the jurisdiction.
